I had a dream... Sunday, September 27, 2009
So, Benjamin's willingness to nap has been not-so-awesome lately. However, if you bumped into him around 3 o'clock on any given day, you'd realize that he still REALLY needs a nap.
Andrew and I discussed it, and decided we'd implement the "sticker chart" rewards system, and when he got X number of stickers, he could pick out a train or a car, or something that he covets.
After begging us to stop at the toy store on our way home from errands this morning, we decided to tell him about our plan. He was pumped.
He went upstairs at 1 (naptime).
Jumped on the bed.
Read some books.
Came out of his room to play in the guest room at 3.
Was pooped still, so I got him to climb into bed with me.
He just came downstairs demanding his sticker, and then says to us "I had a dream that I went to the toy store and got a train."
We explained that he'd have to get more than one sticker (ten was the number I'd mentioned to him), and would earn them through good behavior, etc.
"I had another dream. I got 10 stickers and then went to the toy store to get a train."
Help me. I have a little business man on my hands!

Getting into a groove... Tuesday, September 15, 2009
So, I blinked, and the last couple of weeks kind of happened fast for us. We've been evolving into our new routine of me working pretty regularly again, Benjamin going to 2-day pre-school, and some pretty intense travel schedules for both Andrew and I.
In fact, I've actually had to cut a lot of the fun things out, which is a disappointment, but at some point, something has to give. Currently, my sanity is what's giving; hopefully we'll be in more of a routine soon.
So yeah. I went back to work. I am doing some new projects for my prior employers. I am so excited about the projects, and always love an opportunity to work with this team of smart, motivated and hard-working people.
Also on the "something's gotta give" list has been my running. I have less than a week to defer my Marine Corps Marathon number, but will feel like a total quitter if I do that. I know that I can do it. Or, at least think I can, but am bummed that my time will be nowhere as good as it was back in March.
Even before I got super busy, the running was lackluster, at best, because the heat and humidity of August really kicked my butt.
So, that's about it from here. Struggling for balance in our new roles at home. I hope to get caught up on some things, including fixing the ability to upload pictures to this site, the triathlon, and other things we have going on.
Happy Autumn! It's my favorite season; even with the 85 degree temp today.

When I grow up... Tuesday, September 01, 2009
{Benjamin says}
When I grow up, I want to be a giant cupcake! I should eat some more cupcakes so I can turn into a cupcake.
Tricky guy!
